After over five years as Chief Executive at the international charity ActionAid UK, Girish Menon is leaving to join STiR Education. Girish will remain in post at ActionAid until the end of the year and an interim CEO will be recruited ahead of his successor being appointed.
Girish says: “I will always consider it an absolute privilege to have led ActionAid UK’s work. There is still a long way to go to achieving gender equality but I’m immensely proud of all that we have achieved with women and girls living in poverty.
“After just over five years, I now feel that it’s time for a change and have taken this decision after long and careful consideration. I am deeply passionate about education and am ready to take on a new challenge in that niche. I look forward to seeing ActionAid do even more and scale new heights over the coming months and years.”
ActionAid UK adopted a new five-year strategy in 2017 called 'Together, with women and girls'. As part of this, the international charity is working to significantly reduce the risk of violence against women and girls, fight for women’s equal access to economic opportunities and prioritise women and girls’ rights and leadership in humanitarian crises.
STiR Education is an international NGO that supports education systems in India and Uganda, and Girish will be overseeing the scaling up of the organisation.
