Women and Agroecology Program in Brazil

Philanthropy and Partnerships

We build long-term relationships with individuals, professionals, trusts, foundations, and companies who provide significant funding to help us change the world with women and girls.

Find out about the different ways we can partner together, and challenge the root causes of poverty and injustice, supporting women and girls as they claim their rights and lead their communities out of poverty.

Some examples of our work

Alex Graham

Alex Graham has supported ActionAid’s work in Asia for several years.

“What I loved about ActionAid from the beginning was that they let me be involved. I said to them, ‘I don’t want to just give you money’, because I wanted to see first-hand what was happening.

I’ve been able to go to Myanmar, year after year, and it’s so incredible to see the way the programme has developed. It’s been the best thing I’ve ever done in my life. It has helped change me and I’m very grateful to ActionAid for letting me be part of it.”

Supporting women in business

32-year old Aliane in Rwanda used to spend a lot of her time on subsistence farming and housework.

In 2016, she joined a local women’s cooperative, where she learned new agricultural techniques and accessed loans to start a new poultry business with the help of ActionAid.

ActionAid also provided Aliane with an improved, energy-efficient cooking stove and rainwater harvesting tank which means she spends less time looking for firewood and fetching water for household tasks.

“I was trained by ActionAid on how to become a businesswoman, how to do sustainable agriculture, how to start income-generating activities, and reduce the time spent on unpaid care and domestic work. I thank ActionAid, their partners, and donors for the training, advice, and financial support.”
