Why run for ActionAid
In 2012, Najlaa fled from Syria to Turkey as a refugee after barrel bombing devastated her community and her husband was detained by the regime.
In Turkey, she has since founded Kareemat, the first Syrian women-led organisation dedicated to fostering peace, security and dignity.
Kareemat provides a safe space and "home away from home" for other female refugees. It supports women's economic empowerment through training of skills and education as well as promoting peacebuilding among the local community.
By fundraising for ActionAid, you can support organisations like Kareemat to help refugees rebuild their lives and claim their rights.
